It's that time of year again in Michigan when the water beckons. As the temperature inches upward and the sun beats down, Gull Lake is the perfect place to cool down, and although owning a lakefront home would be ideal, you don't have to be a resident to enjoy the Richland all-sports lake. Homeowners and visitors alike can find everything they need to spend a day on the lake with these Gull Lake resources.

Gull Lake Boating and Water Sports Information - Purchase, Rent, and More!


Gull Lake Marine - Richland Location: 10261 M89 Highway, Richland, MI 49083

This location houses indoor showrooms and a parts and service department


Bay of Gull Lake Location: 12485 E D Ave., Richland, MI 49083

Houses an extensive pro-shop/ship store and carries kayaks, paddleboards, and SUPs. The location also offers a full-service fuel dock, 80 wet-slips for rental, and their boat rental operations.


Hours: Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Koopers Marine - 10538 E. Michigan 89, Richland, MI 49083


Richland's go-to destination for used boats, fishing boats, and pontoon boats for sale. The location also offers boat storage, parts, and service.


Hours: Monday through Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Fishing License Information

If you are 17 years of age or older, you must purchase a license to fish. Those under the age of 17 do not need a permit but do need to observe all fishing rules and regulations. Michigan's fishing license is valid from March 1 through March 31 of the following year.


Here is a look at the cost of purchasing a license:

  • Resident Annual $26.00*

  • Non-resident Annual $76.00*

  • Senior Annual (Residents 65 or older or Residents who are legally blind) $11.00*

  • 24-hour (Resident or Non-resident) $10.00

  • 72-hour (Resident or Non-resident) $30.00

  • Nonresidents must also purchase a Sportcard for $1
